I thought I was getting a great deal when I rented a truck in Indianapolis, paid my deposit, and dropped the truck off at my end-destination in Lawrence, KS. I left the truck as I had gotten it (clean & full of gas); however, after 2 weeks, I called to ask why my deposit had not been refunded to my credit card. I was told that they were short-handed and hadn't gotten around to finishing the paperwork and I would see the refund in a few days. A week later, I called again and was told the same thing. Finally, about 3 weeks later, I called again and was told the refund would appear that day or next and that it would be the full deposit minus $4 and change for topping off the gas (even though I had topped off the tank less than 1/2 mile from the drop-off location). When I protested the price of the gas (just on principle), the girl told me she would go ahead and refund the $4.xx. I have never received that refund and will not use or recommend Budget rental again. Was it worth $4.xx to them?
