My husband and I hired Spencer from 5 West Studios to photograph our wedding. We interviewed 8 different photographers, because we are very selective about photos and couldn't be happier with our decision.
People had told me prior to the wedding that it is important to choose a photographer you get along with because you will be with him/her all day. I really did not believe them until the wedding and post wedding (when you work closely with the photographer/staff on the wedding album). Fortunately, while choosing a photographer, we did keep this advice in the back of our heads.
In my opinion, the wedding photographer/company is 1 of the most important wedding related decisions that a couple has to make. We had heard some horror stories from some couples re their photographers and obtaining pics/album post wedding. Spencer and his entire staff are incredibly professional, efficient & a pleasure to work with. 3 qualities that I wanted to share about Spencer that I think are of relevance is he is easy going, attentive to detail & passionate about his work. Additionally, Spencer and his staff allowed me to be involved with the layout of the album, which was important to me. While that is not important for most couple, if it is, be aware that many companies do not give you any control.
Spencer and his assistant showed up 30minutes early, our pictures were available to share on the internet within 3 weeks of the wedding and our album was completed within 4 months. (Much of the delay was selecting which pictures to put in the album. It was extremely difficult as we had so many amazing pictures to choose from).
I will say that both my husband and I wanted non traditional wedding photos, more action shots and artistic pictures. IF you are looking for an album of traditional posed pictures, 5 west studios may not be the way to go.
We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5 WEST STUDIOS and are just thrilled that they were part of our wedding.
