Review content:
Family owned restaurant originally, based on the Bernal family recipes from their original store in Socorro NM. What that means is the best red and green chile's grown on the family farm in the Rio Grande Valley that make the flavorful sauces. Start with the home made chips and salsa and a side of guacamole. The red, green and mole chile sauces are so tasty. My favorite is the #6 flat enchiladas with red and green sauce and fried egg on the top. But its a tough choice because the chicken mole enchiladas or the green chile soup are fantastic. Thirsty, sit at the bar on the back patio and ask Justin shake up a top shelf margarita on the rocks for you. No frozen foo foo drinks here. Eric, Hugo, Ray, Freddy and the rest of the crew keep the food and drink flowing. My wife and I have been regulars since they opened up 10 years ago in the little storefront on the Marshall Way and have watched this restaurant blossom. So much so that the wait during prime time can be significant. So what, you are on Mexico time! Grab a cold Negra Modela or a pitcher of margaritas and chill out, the food will be worth the wait. If the parking lot is full, there is plenty of parking in the back, enter through the alley. Teddy Bernal manages the joint, but you'll see brother Eddie and parents Frank and Lupe make appearances when they aren't in Socorro minding the store and growing the chiles.
Pros: Great food and drinks, good service, friendly wait staff, good value
Cons: Crowded during peak times, small parking lot
