Anthony's In The Catalinas

Review content:
Anthony's is perhaps the most overrated restaurant in Tucson. The entrees are overpriced. One could find better quality at various other upscale restaurants for about half the price. The staff is condescending and the service style is overwhelming. As a guest you are forced to remember which staff member you need to ask for a particular thing. For instance, if you want a cocktail, you have to talk to the cocktailer. Any of the other waiters, the captain, front waiter, back waiter, waiter's assistant, busboy, wine steward, etc cannot help you if you want a refill on that gin and tonic. Apparently they have the most impressive wine list in the universe, but in this economy, who has the cash to dig into that cellar for an ultrarare $500 bottle of bordeaux? Especially when you could find it at a good wine store or special order yourself for a fraction of the price? Atmosphere is lacking as well. In addition to the brusqueness of the staff, the acoustics in the place can be maddening. Everything from other tables' conversations to the maitre d' barking at the waiters in the kitchen echos through the dining room. On a crowded evening it sounds like a cafeteria in there. For the same bloated prices, one would do better paying out for more creative dishes served from the kitchens of Hacienda del Sol or the Ventana Room.
Pros: Top Notch wine cellar
Cons: Pretentious staff, lack of tranquility, overpriced menu, unimaginative entrees.
