I have never seen such a company with poor business ethics, even though it is (loosely) considered legal. I was about to hand over $600 (impound fees for 4 days) + my pink slip for one of my trailers that was stolen a week back from my office in Orange County. They told me this was the only way to release the trailer and stop more charges from incurring to me, and that they would not be as ""nice"" in the future me if I did not pay. They were so horrible and so nasty about the process, including hanging up on me several times and not willing to discuss any options. They operate purely on scare tactics. Fortunately a call from my attorney led me stop from what he referred to as ""legal extortion."" I believe anyone who has received service like this owes it to themselves to call Whittier and Santa Fe Springs PD and let them know what is going on as I did.
