Staying in Lake County, read the very mixed reviews, tried it out. I had heard other things about this place, mostly good, so I made the drive. I'm glad I did, more than once. I think this place is great. Although the fish selection was a bit limited, the quality was superb. The hamachi melted in my mouth it was so rich and the fresh salmon was also very good. The scallops were sweet and tender and the saba was seasoned with the perfect amount of salt and vinegar. The sushi rice was perfect not too sweet, salty, or sour. The food from the kitchen was exceptional as well. The presentation was simple yet well done, not OVER done or elaborate. We tried the vegetable gyoza, beef negimayaki, squid steak, and the crab cakes. All were excellent. The Japanese noodle were a real treat. Liked the kakiyage (sp?) udon and really like the soba noodles with tempura. The teriyaki seafood skewers and teriyaki steak were outstanding. You can tell this sauce did not come out of a bottle, they put time and effort into making it. The tempura was light and crispy like real Japanese tempura should be...(many places label anything they batter fry as tempura, which is quite disheartenng).
