My siblings and I hosted a 50th Wedding Anniversary cookout for our parents at New Castle Common this past Labor Day. I wanted the cake to be special, so I ordered it at Popovers. The pastry chef was a young man and very friendly and helpful. We decided on a yellow quarter sheet cake with a lemon curd filling, and butter cream icing. He suggested gold roses for the 50th. I also ordered a dozen chocolate cup cakes for the kids, and asked him to surprise me with the decoration of those, which really got him excited. When I picked up both I was so pleased; the cake was elegant and the cup cakes decked out with fudge and confetti. The woman who iced the cake helped me carry it all to my car a block away. Both the cake and cup cakes were a huge success at the party - out of this world flavor, and many had second and third helpings. I highly recommend Popovers for specialty cakes.
