Review content:
After months of waiting for a local wine bar to open, The Wine Loft finally opened last week. We went Saturday night for appetizers and wine and to just check out the new place.
We were there during the dinner hour so the wine bar was not busy yet. There are plenty of places to sit. Sofas and chairs provide cozy spots along the windows looking out to the river. Stools along the bar and stools along a center long table provide plenty of seating. We did not even venture up to the loft where I am sure it is equally comfortable.
The ambiance here is pretty upscale - worthy of Washington Avenue or Downtown Houston. Soft techno beat music, soft lighting, black leather seating, etc. Definitely like nothing else in Kingwood.
Service was very good and our appetizers were also good. We had a salad with an incredible pepper jam vinaigrette and some thin sliced fillet mignon. We also had a charcuterie dish of ham, bologna, sausage, olives and bread.
Our first glasses of wine were from Australia and Chile and were both very good. For our second course of wine we chose from the California selection. We were very satisfied with the selections. We overheard two other couples try to order something that was out of stock.
Speaking of out of stock, we decided on the Moulton Lava Chocolate cake for dessert. After an enthusiastic reply from the staff that they still had some, our waitress came back disappointed that the rumor was not true. They were actually out of the cake.
Overall, a very good experience.
Pros: spacious, comfortable
Cons: Limited food menu
