Review content:
I was with Ikon and was told I'd be living with 2 girls and I arrived to find bunkbeds everywhere and six people sleeping in a one bedroom apartment paying each over 1000 a month. Downtown Manhattan is NOT that expensive as far as rent goes, so they were making a profit. Whenever we'd go on any castings (which I was later told by former bookers had the sole purpose of shutting models up), the client would request a certain type of girl with either a thin build or muscular, blonde hair or dark, etc., etc to which my whole apartment went on the same castings (we looked nothing alike). Even if we did manage to land a job, we called the clients after the 90 day waiting period for payment had passed only to find out on more than a few occasions that Ikon had taken our earnings, feigning not to know what happened to the money. We dealt with hassles of filling out late payment forms repeatedly, leaving messages for the accountant who doesn't exist..any suggestion I could offer?? You are better off checking out legitimate agencies who don't scam their models or give them the runaround. Many of us work jobs outside of modeling and would have to track down the status of our earnings. Completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Run far away toward agencies in NY that may actually help you, not hurt your career.
Pros: Nada
Cons: Got a pen and paper? Your hand will hurt from writing a lot.
