epically bad experience. i've told a few people about the experience i had at this place and i've had them in stitches laughing at my misfortune. 1.) i arrived for my appointment and was not greeted by the exceptionally rude receptionist. i introduced myself, she told me to take a seat in the waiting room (you know, with the uncomfortable chairs and the stained carpet and complete lack of magazines). 2.) i waited for 40 minutes (FORTY MINUTES) for my initial screening, they had me take out my contacts and proceeded to mock me when i blinked at the air puff test. THE TEST IS BLOWING A PUFF OF AIR INTO YOUR EYE. THE NATURAL REACTION IS TO BLINK. 3.) i waited for another 10 minutes (blind) in the waiting area for the doctor. 4.) the doctor mumbled and didn't test my eyes very much at all, he asked what my previous prescription was (who cares??) and told me i would ""try out"" this new prescription to 'see how i felt'. um, dude, i'm buying 6 months worth of contact lenses and they aren't cheap. maybe we could be sure about it? 5.) i was directed out to the waiting room where i was instructed to select a pair of frames, any frames, i asked? yes, of course, any frames. i made my pick and modeled them for the anti-social receptionist, who made a face and told me to keep looking. i kept the pair. 6.) this is where it gets good, because i start working with easily the laziest, most uninformed and impatient glasses-fitter-guy ever in existence. he puts the glasses on my face, marks my eyes on the glass, makes some measurements, and tells me i need to pick smaller frames. this, obviously, delights me because 10 minutes ago i was told i could choose anything i wanted. i selected several pairs but was informed that my prescription would be pretty thick lenses, and i would probably self conscious with those selections. hey, thanks for your positive input, not that i asked. 7.) i settle on another pair and mr. delightful informs me that i will be spending 275 on my visit today. um WHAT? I said this so loud that everyone in the store looked at me. 8.) my good friend quickly backtracks and takes me off the premium lens track and struggles in explaining (when i asked) where all these dollars are being directed. $10 copay, $30 for the frames, $40 for the contact lens fitting (which i did not ask for but apparently is required to receive a contact prescription, no one explained this to me, i figured it out based on my own assumptions)... these things don't add up to $275. my lovely comrade cannot produce the information that would break down the price that would add up to $275. throughout his explanation, he laughed at me several times and said ""that's just the way it is"" more times than is appropriate when referencing medical needs. 9.) finally we agreed on a price about $150 less than his original quote. wtf was that first amount? where did it come from? i didn't think i was buying a car, i didn't bring my haggling boots. 10.) i expected, once we cam to an agreement, to be informed i could pick up my lenses in an hour. no no, they will be ready in TWO WEEKS. i am eagerly anticipating the phone call. 11.) they were defensive and upset that i did not decide to purchase my contacts through them as well. the contacts would also take two weeks to arrive. guess what? i can get them online in 5 days. how could it possibly take you--your entire business being eyeballs, over 2 weeks to receive something that i, an average citizen, can get in under one week?? and if this is the case, how dare you be disgruntled about this? i hate this place. i will spread my bad experience like the gospel because i hope no one else ever has to endure what i went through. i would rather be blind then visit this establishment again.
