At the insistence of a friend who has been raving about this place since it opened, I went here for dinner over the weekend. Though this friend has impeccable taste in food, I wondered how a brand new spot could be so good as to warrant her high level of enthusiasm. I quickly learned, however, that she was not exaggerating - this place is a gem. We split all of our dishes, and they were all marked by freshness and an innovative blending of flavors and textures. The pumpkin soup, for example, was saved from typical pumpkin-soup-blandness by just the right dash of chives and a dollop of cream. The seafood stew had the most perfectly sliced (paper-thin) potatoes in it, giving it a sort of delicate oomph. But the clincher, for me, was the perfect barley risotto with prawns. I was dreaming about this dish the next morning before breakfast, and I absolutely did not want to eat anything else. On top of all this, the atmosphere is casual but gracious, and the staff was friendly and genuinely excited about the food - who doesn't like that? Pros: the food Cons: ?
