Review content:
Hollywood stars can only dream about their plastic surgeons giving them the kind of face lift Olympic Upholstery gives furniture. I brought Olympic some really well made, but suffering, furniture. (Actually they picked it up and returned it.) The oldest piece has been around for about 70 years, and the youngest was just under forty. It originally came from the almost permanently sealed living room at the front of my grandmother?s Florida panhandle home. Because air-conditioning rarely reached that room, and the southern facing picture window encouraged the sun to beat mercilessly on the sofa and chairs, most of it was suffering from dry rot. As I went through, the books and books and books, ad infinitum, of fabric samples Olympic provided me, I had little hope of a true restoration. I shouldn?t have been so pessimistic. The furniture now sits in my frequently used living room, looking brand new, or maybe it?s even better than new. Any damages the wood suffered over the years disappeared, and the stuffing is resilient but soft. Moreover, the new fabric now brings the old furniture into this century.
