Businiess name:  Danny's Venice
Review by:  citysearch c.
Review content:
My only wish is that citysearch allowed me to give this place negative stars. It may sound a little harsh, but believe me, I am doing the general public a favor with my opening remark. The mural and the old school gondola are the only positive things I could take away from my experience at this amateur hour ""deli""? In Venice, it is a constant struggle to find a place that make good sandwiches for lunch. You would think a place with deli in it's name would be able to handle something as simple as that. Well, sorry, no. L.A. already has Jerry's Deli, and this is a bad version of it. The menu is huge, with no real attractions to speak of. Unfortunately, the sandwich I had was $14, with barely anything in it. What a rip off, and it was like Boar's Head meat. I could have gone to Ralph's and asked them to slice me a half pound. The staff is out to lunch, probably because they don't know what to do when people come through the doors, as the occurrence is rare. The place has no real passion, semblance of a theme, and is really overall cheesy. They have this weird barbershop looking red and white stripe frontage with out of context quotes from local magazines on it. It's like a bad movie review if you ask me. I don't like to give up on a place, so I was stupid enough to go in there for dinner, Now I love Venice, but having to pass the bums and the smell of that particular street, is not the best way to enter a restaurant. I don't know, let's just say, I don't get it. It's a deli but everything in their case looks lame, and old. The sandwiches are pedestrian, and forgettable. Dinner? Just awful. Seriously, if I was mean, I would have left the place, demanding not to pay. Our service was slow, the food took forever, (how, when there weren't many people in there), and was tasteless, poorly cooked, and was of really poor quality. Maybe because they don't have much business, the food gets old, but they serve it anyway. They should be ashamed, and you should steer clear. Pros: They let me leave. Cons: I went there.
