Review content:
I had Jonathan clean my kids' play room carpet and upholstery last year. I was happy enough to ask him to clean it again this year. He was here just yesterday for the cleaning. I was extremely disappointed in this year's performance. First of all the price was considerably more than last year (even though the work was actually LESS - one less piece of furniture this year). Part of the reason for calling on him again was the price. Only after clearing out the room of furniture, clearing out my schedule, and having him standing in my play room does he tell me that last year's price may have been low because of an introductory price. I show him last year's receipt (which does NOT mention any special discount), and he changes his explanation saying that he must have misquoted the job last year over the phone and then stuck to it. I ask if he can adjust the price given that I relied on last year's number when deciding to hire him...NOTHING. I would have been happy with even a nominal discount of a few bucks just in good faith. So I'm annoyed I'm paying much more for less work, but he's here and my play room is cleared of all the usual clutter, so I decide to suck it up and go ahead with the cleaning. The kicker?? I am NOT satisfied with the carpet cleaning this year. There are two obvious spots that he did not remove (kids' washable paints??). I understand maybe he tried to get it out to no avail...but he should tell me! After the job was done I took a look into the play room. The spots at issue are on the clear opposite side of the room ,so they were unobservable from my vantage point (I was unable to walk on the newly cleaned carpet as it was sopping wet). I ASKED Jonathan if he got all the spots out. His response? ""well, take a look for yourself."" He should have told me right then and there that he was unable to take all the spots out and explain why! Also, the upholstery he cleaned still has dog hair on it. The dog spends a good deal of time on our upholstered chair (I noted that to Jonathan) and that chair has dog hair AND dog smell. I don't understand how this is possible with a professional level cleaning. I'm truly disappointed with Jonathon's service. Next time I'll just call Stanley Steamer. I prefer to go the small business route but not for this kind of service!
