Review content:
We bought a new house and it came loaded with cabinets from this company. After only three years we started seeing discoloration, peeling and chipping of the finish throughout the entire kitchen. We also had fit issues with the doors in the master bath, they always scrape along the underside of the vanity and after a closer look and comparing them to the same cabinet on the 2nd floor they were missing about an 1/2- 1 inch separator under the vanity to allow proper clearance for the doors.
I called and after a few weeks Tony came over to ""look"" at what was going on.
He started off being defensive and saying that the sun coming in the window caused the chipping and peeling. The window is never or very rarely left with the blinds open all the way, and the window faces south and does NOT get a ton of sun in it either. They are also new windows with UV protection on them.
The discoloration was explained to me as part of the natural look of the wood and that it would not get worse and he pointed to my wood floors as an example. However the floors have always looked like that. The cabinets however have been slowly showing more and more of this ""natural"" discoloration that in the event of the one cabinet eventually led to the peeling and chipping of the finish.
Water or moisture had caused the edging to peel off the bottom of the sick cabinet and he accused us of letting too much water get on the wood under the cabinet. He basically said we must have had a leak. However, there has never been a leak under the cabinet. The only thing is that the dishwasher sits next to it and when its done a puff of moisture comes out near that part of the cabinet. This was explained away also because if it was the dishwasher we would see it on both sides. Not true, for whatever reason the puff tends to be on the sink side, but again I was wrong. He would not even listen to what I was saying about the dishwasher.
In the end after I asked why they would use products that they know are problematic in these very normal situations. I was told this is what my builder ordered and they only have a 1 year warranty. He only came over to offer to repair what was damaged and no other reason and he stormed out of my house.
So they know they make a crappy product and the only reason he came over was to get the job to fix/repair the original poor work.
I don't care how cheap these cabinets were the fact that after three years they are this bad in two more I am going to have to tear out the entire thing. That's so wasteful and expensive.
If IKEA can use pressed wood (the main reason according to Tony that we had the moisture issue) and offer a 25 year warranty I don't understand why anyone would use this company. If I had known at the time we were buying the house that the cabinets only had a 1 year warranty I would have know right away to insist on something else.
Pros: NONE...maybe they were cheap
Cons: Everything
