Review content:
I hired Life Deck to waterproof the balcony that was leaking into a unit below. I was given an estimate, paid the deposit and work began. Things seemed to be going okay, and when worked stopped during rain I noticed that the balcony was sloped improperly and water ran away from the drain. I contacted my project manager and said that I noticed that water was pooling and asked if it would be fixed to drain. He responded ""That's the plan."" When work began after Christmas I received a phone call that the job would require 700 more dollars to properly drain (original estimate was 1600). When I called him later that day he had claimed that since he had not heard from me he proceeded with just waterproofing and not leveling the patio. Even though I was unhappy, when the work was finished I contacted my project manager and asked how and when I should pay and never got an answer. The company called and asked for payment over a month later. I told them that I would send in a payment when I received a copy of the bill. The bill arrived on Monday, and on Tuesday I called and asked to place part of my bill on a credit card and told them that I would send in a check for the rest. On Thursday I received a letter thanking me for my partial payment but threatening to put a lien on the house if it the full balance was not paid within a week since work was completed on the 18th of December (when in reality it was completed after Christmas. Two days later I received a letter for proof that a lien would be lifted when my check cleared.
Pros: friendly
