Review content:
We have patronized Le Passage for a number of years and through three owners and always had excellent service and dining. The food was always wonderful, authentic and of high quality. Unfortunately that is a thing of the past. The new owner has chosen to open a wine store on one side of the Restaurant and a Chocolate store on the other. Sounds Great! The downside now is that if you order a bottle on wine from the restaurant menu, at a retail price, you have to then pay an $8 corking fee. Why pay retail for a bottle of wine. Off of the menu, and then pay them to open it. (Bad form) Also if you do try Le Passage make sure you look at the bill. The menu might list a wine for $30, but when you get your bill it will reflect $35 for the wine and $8 to open it. So your $30 bottle of wine is now $43. If the restaurant wants $43 for the wine then list it on the menu for $43. The food quality is hit or miss. The duck with cherry sauce was excellent, but the Pork with a pepper sauce was a great disappointment. The sauce was non-descript and over sauced. The Ratatouille was large sliced vegetables with no taste, not to the any standards that we have ever seen. We where there on the Tuesday night ?French Chefs choice? There bakes brie was burnt on the bottom, yet old when served. We only observed tree other couple in the Restaurant during the time we were there, yet they said they were out of the cr?me burlee. Our service was very slow! We had made reservation of 7pm for our 45th wedding anniversary celebration. We finished our dinner, which included very long pauses between entr?es and not knowing where the waitress was located, especially due to no other guess had arrived. The total time was almost 2.5 hours. We do not and have not put negative reviews of any restaurants, but this cried out for a measure of rebuff. We will never recommend, patronize, or deal with Le Passage Restaurant in the future. The best use of ?le Passage? would be ?Passage of a once great Restaurant!
