Review content:
GOOD: I love Arigato's food and always have. Since it is expensive, I only go on a special occasion, like my birthday, half-birthday or anniversary (they mail you a discount at these times). I don't usually eat vegetables, but I will here! The sauce on the salad is great and the white ""Goody-Goody"" sauce is wonderful! BAD: Over two years ago now, on my birthday, I ordered a birthday cake and picture, which costs $6 (no freebies on your birthday, anymore). After dinner, the server brings it out with plates, cuts it up and serves it out to everyone at my table. They're not supposed to do that. *I* bought the cake, not them. I didn't know anyone else at the table except my fiance who went with me. I've done the same thing at this same place for my birthday and they've never divided up my cake. I didn't want to say anything in front of everyone who was eating my birthday cake (which is very small, by the way, enough for maybe 6-8 small slices), so there was only about 1 slice left to take home since (only because someone didn't want any). Usually, I get to enjoy that delicious cake for a few days afterwards, but now it was almost gone. We were the last table to leave that night, but I waited at the front desk to let someone know what happened, but no one was there and apparently, no was coming back up to the front, so we left. I called the next day and told them what happened, but they were busy and no manager was available to take the call, so they took my information and said a manager would call me back. No one did. I waited a week and called back. They took my info, but no call back. About a month later, I called again, but this time, I I called yet again, but this time I'm told that there's no way to give me a credit or refund me, now that it's after the fact. They agreed that the cake is supposed to be served to the party members only, not the whole table, but nothing can be done now. So, I've refused to go back. It is only $6, but it's more about the principle of the thing. THEY should be thinking that it is only $6 and that since they made the mistake, THEY should fix it and apologize to me. Since they're not willing to fix a $6 mistake, I'm not willing to go back. 01/14/2011 update: GOOD: My family visited last December (2010) & wanted to go back to this Arigato's, so I went. I spoke to the manager there after everyone was seated and I explained the ongoing issue and he gave me a free replacement cake. Being about a week before my birthday and a family member's, I thought this was great timing, too. BAD: Unfortunately, when it came to the picture that was supposed to come with the birthday package, I had to ask my server 2-3 times about it and she just said ""ok."" After the cake, everyone was leaving, so I went to the front desk and asked again & this girl says (as boringly as she can), 'You have to come up here for those.' Why didn't my server say that? Very frustrating! Finally, we got the picture, which was much better quality than before because now it's all digitally scanned & printed rather than a Polaroid. Because the manager FINALLY fixed it, I bumped the review from 1 star to 2. So, Manager = A+, staff = D.
