I had referred a few of my friends/family to this law firm since I had a very positive experience in the past. Unfortunately, that reputation did not carry over for others. This practice actually allowed the Statute of Limitation to expire. The case was handed over to this practice for the sole purpose of protecting the statute while negotiations continued on a claim wherein clear liability was not in question...meaning, there was not much work to be done other than filing the papers in time. For over a year, the attorney on the case (one of the partners) dodged our phone calls, ignored emails, and then finally claimed that the statute was protected in time. All of this, only to find out he lied in assuring us that the lawsuit was properly filed to protect the statute when it was not. Jump to present day, this major negligence cost my family member a significant amount of time and money. Four years later, we have made little progress with a new practice b/c of what this law firm did. The defendant has since moved and nowhere to be found. None of this came to light until we finally terminated the relationship and found another law firm after it became clear that they had dropped the ball. No acknowledgement of this, no apology, no explanation.
Yes, mistakes happen, but this should never be one of them. More importantly, to intentionally hide the fact that they failed and f/u with a lie calls the entire ethics of this practice into question.
