In April of 2008 I contacted my daughter's mother to start making preparations for her to spend the summer with me in Washington. I am a Soldier stationed at Fort Lewis, WA and my daughter usually spends her summers with me. She lives in Killeen, Texas with her mom. Her mom replied by saying that if I wanted to see my daughter again then I would have to come to Texas to see her. A few days later she had my daughter call to ask if I would agree to her getting a passport and going to Jamaica with her grandmother for the summer. I was torn because I wanted her to go but at the same time I wanted to see my daughter because I was getting ready to deply to Afghanistan and would not see her again for a long time. I said no I would not because I need to see her before I left and I did not know what would happen in Afghanistan. I sent her mom a notarized letter stating that I do not consent to her getting a passport and going to Jamaica. Our parental agreement (court order) provides me the right to visit with my daughter during the period I was trying to get her. She is in contempt of court I think.
