The website boasts award-winning cuisine. Nothing I had last night was remotely award-winning or even cuisine. Dehydrated potatoes mixed with MARGARINE, frozen overcooked vegetables, undercooked chicken, frozen beef with gravy from a packet and ""minestrone"" soup that also obviously came out of a packet is not remotely what I'd classify as award-winning cuisine. Furthermore the service was appalling, the staff ill-prepared, and the timing disturbing. The salad was being cleared away from a portion of the guests before another significant portion had even received the soup course! I've HAD good food AND good service at the Sabre Room, but what I had last night was nothing short of disgusting. Furthermore, serving food nearly an hour after its scheduled time AND THEN turning off the lights for the Christmas Variety Show while the guests were still eating was utterly insulting. I've never had a worse experience at any banquet hall on the whole of the South Side and I've been to dozens of events in the area. A banquet hall's reputation is made or broken on the strength of its service and its food. If I could possibly give it, this one would receive a negative score. Don't waste your time booking your event here, the place has gone completely downhill.
