Uptown Pilates has whipped me into shape! ... But whipped in a pleasant way. I've never been one for crazy boot camp-style workouts, but for the longest time, I thought that was the only way to get in shape. When I started complaining to a friend of mine that all of my high-impact workouts were starting to take a toll on my knees, she dragged me to Uptown Pilates on Madison. I rolled my eyes and went along with it. But I was thinking, ""Really? Pilates?? Is that really a workout?"" Answer: YES. IT IS. After my first session, I knew that this place was something special. It definitely worked my muscles. I certainly felt taller and less compressed. And my knees felt so much better! After just a few sessions, the discomfort in my knees went away completely. Also, my muscles have changed. I was in decent shape to begin with, but working with the instructors here has actually changed my muscles, and now they're longer and leaner. I'm pretty sure I weigh the same as when I started, and yet clothes fit differently. I'll never go back to what I was doing. By the way, I give them bonus points for having such a great and inviting space, and incredibly nice staff. Pros: Challenging workouts, great instructors, pretty studio! Cons: ?
