I called Circuit City in Santa Monica to see if they had any 5 foot cables. The girl who answered the phone simply said, ""We are not allowed to do stock checks"". I was speechless. She hung up on me. Now, I don't know if there is a difference between going out on the storeroom floor and looking around for a product and perhaps looking in the store computer for inventory, but I find it hard to believe that this is actually their policy. Really? If they don't have time to check their inventory, I certainly don't have time to drive around to every store in town to find what I'm looking for. What a simple way to get business and what a complete failure on their part. I called their local competitor who said, ""yes we have 5 foot cables""; so I drove over and bought them. It didn't slip my attention that when I Googled ""Circuit City Santa Monica"", among the top 5 hits were such articles as ""Rip Off City"" and ""Tender My Resignation: Confessions of a Circuit City Employee"". Pros: Close to my office. Cons: Would rather drive 10 miles than pay for service like this.
