We started shopping at Books Inc. just to support the local bookstore in an era full of faceless chains at malls. But now we're wholehearted fans. It's a great place to get thoughtful recommendations in all sorts of categories - mysteries, current non-fiction, novels, kids' books, etc.
They also have the best, most imaginative collections of stocking-stuffers right before holiday season. Go when you can't think of what to get some people; winning answers are here.
And it's a very kid-friendly store; it's one of the few grown-up shopping destinations that has always appealed to the kids, too.
Pros: Staffers really know books! - very helpful on recommendation
Cons: List price prevails; not many discounts
