Review content:
I went to the church as a first time visitor today.. I wanted to like it, I really did, but I just couldn't. And i've never written a negative review about a church, but felt i had to about this one Here's why: I didn't get a sense that the lead pastor was very humble and this is important to me in a church. He has a reserved parking space. They are friendly, but probably too friendly. I was practically accosted four times and welcomed excitedly. It was just TOO much. Someone practically met me at my car and then they gave me a brochure about the church, which then caused two more people to approach me. I quickly put that brochure away! Next up was entrance into the actual church. There were MANY seats open in the rear, but the ushers seemed intent on helping me choose a seat. I just wanted to say - geez leave me alone. Let me find a seat. Really I'm capable! AND there are SO many seats open. I did enjoy the music. Then a woman came out and asked the new people to raise their hands. I didn't dare raise my hand. I was afraid I'd be accosted by more people again. Then the pastor started preaching. Well I thought he was going to start anyway, but no, first up was a 'weigh in' like on the Biggest Loser. My mouth about hit the floor. I could not believe what I was seeing. WAY too over the top!!! It's great they are doing this, but it could have summed it up in a 3 minute video. This took about 15 minutes. They also asked for your donation at the beginning or the service. In fact, at this service, he asked for it twice - which he did say was unusual. Finally the pastor spoke. I was disappointed that they didn't give you any brochure to take notes. And the pastor must have said at least five times, that this was his best message yet. I just got the feeling he was very high on himself. He also had on what appeared to be a very expensive suit. Guess I'm used to my pastor who wears a nice shirt, jeans/khakis and sandals. I was also checking to see if they have bible home life groups or similar and I did not find this. I am a bible believing Christian and attend another church on a regular basis. I was checking this church out, but was gravely disappointed! I will not be back. Sorry.
