I highly recommend Tom Nelson and 4-Star Roofing! Garry 0. Dent 34 Halfmoon Ct. The Woodlands, TX 77380 August 7, 2010 4-Star Roofing - Letter of Recommendation Our insurance company agreed that our roof needed to be replaced because of damage caused by both Hurricane Ike and a local small twister. After receiving the paperwork from the insurance company and learning what theywere willing to pay, I called several roofing contractors to get estimates. The first contractor had two guys spend a little over an hour making a sketch of the roof, which I later found out was totally inaccurate. Their cost estimate was approximately 133% more than the insurance company was willing to pay. The second contractor arrived, but felt uneasy climbing around on the roof to get measurements. He took pictures from the ground and said his company could make drawings based on his pictures and the drip-line measurements he took from the ground. About a month later and after several trips back to the house to get more measurements and pictures, he finally provided an estimate for about 110% of the insurance estimate. Torn Nelson, with 4-Star Roofing, was the third contractor to arrive. After introducing himself, Tom spent several hours on our roof making his own sketch. About 3 hours later, he rang the doorbell and provided me with a printed estimate that was less than the amount anticipated by the insurance company. We walked around the house and Tom pointed out several areas where either the fascia boards or siding needed to be replaced and also suggested some additional venting in an area that had previously not been properly vented. Tom said these minor repairs could be done at the same time as the roof for just a little more money, but with the total cost still not exceeding the insurance estimate. I was also concerned about the damage our landscaping would suffer from this repair, especially all the azalea bushes growing around the house. Tom assured me that he would send his best crew, who were quite used to working on larger homes. I was impressed with Tom?s thoroughness, professionalism and genuine interest to understand my concerns and decided to use 4-Star to replace my roof. 4-Star?s crew took about three and one-half days to replace our entire roof ? plus replace and paint several sections of fascia board and siding. During the entirebperation, we had no damage to our landscaping and every night before leaving the crew was meticulous in cleaning up debris and nails. They were incredible! Other than the beautiful new roof, the only physical evidence I found after they finished the job were a few nails that washed down from the gutters and a couple of outdoor electrical outlets with the protective ?doors? in the open position. The crew and the job they did was truly amazing! In addition to a good looking roof, I also got a warranty that covers manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the shingle and coverage for wind speeds up to 130 mph. After the new roof was on, I started checking other homes that have been recently re-roofed and there is no comparison in the aesthetic difference between my 4-Star roof and others I?ve seen. The most noticeable features that distinguish my roof from others are the larger ridge vents, the high profile ridge/hip cap and the color coordinated roof jacks and pvc boot jacks. I never really noticed that much difference in roofs before, but it was certainly obvious now that I had a 4-Star roof. I highly recommend Tom Nelson and 4-Star Roofing!
