My husband & I dine out a lot, and being exposed to good restaurants around the world has made our tastes a bit more discerning. It takes much to impress us nowadays, but Akasha did just that. Since it had only been open a month, we expected a lot of flaws that needed to be ironed out, but I couldn't really find anything wrong. We had dinner there last Thursday & had a great time. Our server was very friendly & knowledgeable, suggesting items that were truly good. The place itself is aesthetically pleasing, & although it was full, it wasn't too crowded. For starters, we had the Butter Lettuce Albacore Wraps. It may look tiny, but the flavors alone left us satisfied. With Thai/Indian influences, the seared tuna, veggies, curry peanuts & sweet/spicy sauce all just came together - simply delicious. I had the scallops afterwards, which was tender & tasty very earthy & organic (c/o the wild rice). My hubby had the salmon, cooked perfectly. I usually find cooked salmon a bit too fishy, but this one tasted mild & was complemented well with some sweet barbecue-like sauce. We also tried the famous onion rings - so good! Crsipy batter, no trace of oil, mild (no strong onion taste). For dessert, we shared the salty chocolate tart. I couldn't tell that it was made of soy instead of real milk - it just tasted good! Even their drinks were very good, healthy-tasting & creative. We felt like we had eaten really good food - both for our palate and for our health- when we left. I can't believe how good healthy food could taste (usually it would be bad-tasting or bland). With a restaurant like this, you won't feel bad about eating out a lot. Akasha sure has achieved what no other restaurant in LA has. Pros: eco-conscious, organic & YUMMY food, knowledgeable staff, easy parking, reasonably priced Cons: NONE!!!
