Review content:
Last Friday was our 8 year anniversary and my husband and I decided to go to Ichibon to celebrate. We live in Sugarland so it's way out of the way, but we've been dying to try this place since so many of our friends have gone and loved it. We usually go to the nearby Benihana here on Hwy 6, but the atmosphere and food is mediocre at best. We got there at around 7:30 PM and had to park in the section away from the parking lot cause the restaurant parking lot was full. We went inside and was promptly greeted by the hostess. A tall Asian lady appeared (my husband guessed that might be the owner by the way she was dressed and way she conducted herself) and said there would be a 45 minute to an hour wait. The whole time we were waiting, the hibachi area was filled with roars and ovations. Some customers were laughing so hard I thought they were choking on their food. We were promptly seated only after 25 minutes when we were told an hour. A pleasant surprise to say the least. Our waiter came out, introduced himself and took our orders promptly. My husband had the filet mignon and shrimp and I ordered the scallops and salmon. We were each served a dinner salad with a dressing that is to die for. Our chef showed up before we finished our salad and this is what all the raves are about. Our chef was FANTASTIC! We've eaten at many hibachi japanese restaurants, but most of the time the chefs just come out, do that onion volcano thing, cook the food and be done with it. Our chef gave us the whole deal and at one point or another managed to pick on each customer at the table. We were very entertained and the food was totally awesome. I couldn't believe how big my scallops were when he put them on the cooking table. One scallop was about the size of my palm! All the seafood tasted fresh and the fried rice is to die for. All in all, it was a wonderful trip out to Kemah and a very memorable one at that. We'll definitely be back when given the chance.
