Review content:
Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but it definetely seems like there's a competition with chefs to produce the most odd menu items--and when you create that real shocker--voila! You're a hit! I however have nothing against this restaurant's menu--in fact the tempura pumpkin was quite good. I recommended my friend and I come here becuase I heard of these hip chefs from NY that were starting a new restaurant and I'm always one for new food. My problem and why I'm giving a one star was not with the food but with the unbelievably rude service. We I showed up early as we were looking for a happy hour, but were fine with an early dinner as they had just opened. We didnt even get a hello at the door (and we were practically the only ones there!) but an eye roll and grunt by the chefs--almost irritated that they had people wanting to dine there. We shockingly stayed, as I still did really want to try the food. My takeaway however is that there are too many good restaurants in Portland to spend my money here.
