Review content:
My friend used to work near by China Star and would go there for lunch on a weekly basis. He said we must go -even though I live in Rosslyn and it's not right around the corner. It was worth every minute it took to get there and he wasn't lying about how delicious the dishes were! We shared a small crab and asparagus soup (couldn't believe the small we ordered was soo large!), the Szwchen Beef - a huge bowl of the most tender spicy beef with boc choy and leeks - as well as the lamb sizzling pot. Loved them all - my favorite was the lamb - with the lovely spice rub on the meat - thin slices, perfectly done, accompanied with scallions, onions, green and red peppers, and cilantro - really magnificent. The service was quick and very polite. If anything, I would probably skip the soup - although it was very light, and the asparagus was done just right, I found it lacking flavor -and hunted for the crab among all the tofu in the soup. Just my opinion - my friend thought it was better than the other Chinese restaurants we haunt. The bill was very reasonable - $40 - which included all the food I described - plus an extra rice, a diet coke, a Chinese beer and tea. I'd say try it out and you won't be disappointed! I can't wait to have the left over beef we brought home tomorrow!
