Review content:
I was a little intimidated when I walked into the old Gentile Produce Warehouse that is now Drake's Downtown Gym, but all that quickly faded when I was greeted by a pleasant and knowledgable staff. The owner John Drake really made me feel at home and put me through the workout of my life. I've never been real big on fighting or boxing at all, but John convinced me to give their boxing 101 class a try, and I'm so glad I did. An hour long full body workout that teaches discipline, basic boxing stance, and punching technique without the contact....what could be better. You might be thinking that you aren't in good enough shape, or boxing is for men only, or the workout won't be enough for you.......throw all that out the window. I'm no physical specimen, and while there were a few people in great shape most in the class weren't, and if the 70 year old woman who was keeping pace with me can do it....surely you can at least give it a try. Don't hesitate to call john and set up a meeting, or even drop by and check out a class. They can handle the most inexperienced novice like me all the way up to the olympic level amateur, and even pro fighters. They have a youth group for your kids, they have an advanced 202 boxing class for those wanting to take things to the next level, they even put shows on every month if you want to compete in front of a crowd! A Golden Gloves National champion even trained there, as well as a few pro's. Do yourself a favor no matter if you are a man, woman, boy, girl, fat, skinny, in shape, out of shape, experienced or not, get off the couch, put on a pair of gloves (which Drake's has for you to borrow or buy) and jump into the ring for one hell of an experience. Two thumbs up!
