The office staff organization and billing is a disaster! The doctor's recommended that I receive a shot called Guardasil, gave me a pamphlet and set up a time to do it. I show up for the appointment and get the shot. As I am leaving they inform me that I must pay out of pocket, because even though my insurance covers this vaccine, they don't want to go through the trouble of billing the insurance company. I am a little confused and shocked, but I pay them the 200$ thinking I will just file a claim myself later. I file a claim with my insurance company. My insurance tells me they need the doctor's office to fax over my medial records in order for them to process the claim. I call Dr. Bolanos office and ask them to do this, giving them the fax number and a reference number for the insurance company. I call my insurance two weeks later. They say they never received the fax. I ask Dr. Bolano's office to resend the fax, they agree but still haven't done this several weeks later. I am scheduled for another round of the vaccine shot. I call them ahead of time to ask if they could bill the insurance directly this time since it is clear that my insurance will cover the expense. They say OK, as a courtesy they will do this. I show up for the appointment, taking time off of work to do this, and the accountant tells me that they will not bill the insurance directly after all - I must pay another 200$ for this visit. I tell them I can not afford to pay out of pocket and I would have cancelled the appointment if I had know - which was why I called before hand. They are not apologetic. They don't seem to care at all about my actual health, well-being, or the necessity to continue the vaccine shot as planned - just making sure to get paid up-front. Pros: Not many Cons: Disfunctional billing process, lack of communication among office staff, always at least an hour wait
