Review content:
I work at a church on the upper west side. We held a viewing and funeral service for a member of the church, with Ortiz providing their mortuary services and transportation of the deceased. The hearse arrived an hour early, before any of the family or pastors, and Ortiz did not send professional pallbearers; the church custodian happened to be there to unlock the church and some helpful bystanders happened to be available to move the coffin, otherwise I don't know what would have happened. Even worse, the hearse was a full hour late after the end of the funeral; the coffin sat in the church as children and families arrived for a children's concert. The family and pastor called four times, and Ortiz kept claiming that the driver was almost there. Finally, after an hour, the family was coming down the stairs with the coffin to move it to another wing of the church, when the hearse pulled up. The driver jumped out and started to try to send the pallbearers back up into the church. He was not apologetic in the least and kept making excuses. What a shame that Ortiz gave this family the runaround on such a difficult day.
