Review content:
This restaurant was owned for years by Fritz a German with strict standards, and traditional very finely prepared dishes that people came miles for. He was very choosy in who he picked as the new owner and chef. The new guy has qualifications an arm long, and even brings with him some of his Maryland specialities. I tried some wierd things like sweetbreads (the chef personally told me how it was made), and I was shocked at how good it was. It has a country French atmosphere with a fireplace. Dress up ok, but no suit jacket is necessary. They have sandstone tables outside for a salad on a hot summer day on the way to the Rocky Mt. Natl. Park. In the winter you talk to the chef. (sometimes a winter price fix menu--great value). It's a place I'm proud to bring friends.
Pros: food prep'd w/love, warm atmosphere, good date place
Cons: expensive, not for kids
