Review content:
This is my 1st time posting on this site. I had to register when I saw that there was only 1 review of someone's bad experience. I went to this place one Friday early evening around 5-ish. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. We had sushi rolls which were more than enough to feed the 2 of us. They were very fresh and delicious. We were so used to getting skimpy sushi portions that we ordered double like we always do and OMG!!! We were shocked at the huge portion sizes....we shared with our table LOL. We also had the VIP for 2 meal from the hibachi menu and it was well worth it. The portions were large, flavorful, and fresh. The lobster was mouth watering and more than just a little sample. I was upset that I got full so fast and couldn't eat it all but it made an excellent snack later that night...LOL. I am usually a fan of another well known Japanese bistro and swear by them....but SOHO has now become my new favorite place. The tricks and entertainment were awesome and funny...unlike the lack of entertainment at other places I have been to. I loved the little male figurine that squirts water from you know where...LOL. He also took the time to REALLY entertain us and make our visit enjoyable. He tossed pieces of food in our mouth and was encouraging us to flip the eggs for the fried rice. The manager was at our table frequently conversing with everyone and making jokes. The waitress was excellent and came to our table frequently...we never had to ask for a refill but we were only drinking water...LOL. We normally go to the ""other place"" for our celebrations and family gatherings BUT...I am taking my daughter to SOHO with her friends for her 18th birthday celebration....instead of the ""other place"" this year.
Pros: excellent food, service, ambience, personalities, and entertainment
Cons: sitting with snooty strangers who weren't very sociable
