Review content:
I wouldn't exactly call Char's food ""southern comfort food"" as I've seen listed in some reviews. I'm from the south and have never encountered a cheese curd until I went to the mid-west. I also never had pastrami until I moved to the north. Perhaps this is all just a Texas thing? Is Texas the land of cheese curds and pastrami? (The chef hails from Texas.) REGARDLESS I really like this place and you should go. I'm definitely going back. The BLT is delicious and not the BLT one would expect (deep fried pork belly!). The cheese curds are a bit too greasy for me but I would order them again to share. The beef sausage was also quite delicious, juicy, and the flavors of the dish overall were well executed and well balanced. The lamb pastrami (besides the BLT) is the best dish I've tasted on the menu. The service was friendly. I'm not much for whiskey but they have a great bar and a good wine list. The only thing that kind of bothered me was the ""smokey"" smell seems somewhat artificial and a tad bit overwhelming.
