I have spent many hundreds of dollars at MIF over the years, and the only reason I go there is they are fast, in the neighborhood, and open till 9 p.m. They're busy because they're the only game in town if you don't want to get measured at a cramped dry cleaners. The store is big, well lit, has floorlength mirrors, a tacky 1980s color scheme, and they pipe in fashion show videos. You are going to pay for that cheesy 80s decor with the high prices of the alterations and the bad attitude! You half expect Duran Duran to pop around the corner singing ""Please Please Tell Me Now,"" which is what you will want to say every time they make a mistake, which is often.
Pros: large space, well lit, fast turnaround, mostly good work, open late
Cons: very high prices, will not admit mistakes, charge for redoing their mistakes, appear to be greedy
