Before I discovered Gold, I thought the Place in Houston for violin sales and repair is Amati. How wrong I was. Just because a shop is located near Rice University does not mean you should trust it with one of your most valuable possessions.
Mr. Gold is experienced, gifted, professional, and, an added bonus to his clients, an absolute joy to work with. My daughter was ready to start violin study, so we made an appointment with Gold to shop for her first instrument. He treated us like we were buying a million dollar violin. He set aside some of his choices in her size before we came in, and he took his time with us to get us not only the right fit, but the right violin.
I was floored when I found out his rental prices. I don't know how he does it, actually.
I have since brought my violin to him for some conditioning. I see how much he cares about his work, his reputation, and his clients, and I will not give my violin to another again.
Gold also has other string instruments for sale and is an expert in those as well.
