I recently had MOD reupholsterer an antique couch that has been in my family for 3 generations. After many overwhelming trips to fabric stores on the lower east side, I called and spoke to Hanny (such a sweetheart) and she let me know that during the initial consults with the designer, Sim, he would be more than willing to help me select a fabric. He quickly caught on to the fact that I wanted to stay more traditional with the covering and guided me toward those fabrics, using a elimination process that was very helpful. He picked up one last book to go through and I ended up stopping him on a fabric that I suprised myself by falling in love with. A very modern tangerine. I think it really suprised us both! We also agreed to tighten the springs for a small additional charge and move from the traditional 3 cushion couch to a bench seat. (much more comfortable for napping!) Sim noted a particular date that I wanted to try to have the couch back and Hanny called to arrange for deliver on the exact date. The couch is absolutely beautiful.
The couch has extremely ornate wood carving and I noticed a slight scrape on the top of the couch. Sim was extremely responsive - he came out to my apartment on the day I called and not only fixed the scratched, but polished the entire top of the couch.
The professionalism and customer service I experienced with Hanny and Sim was exceptional. Even the delivery guys were all smiles while delivering my couch in a rainstorm.
I would highly recommend MOD restoration for any reupholstereing needs.
