I've been to this particular location MANY times and it seems that there is always a problem. I had one server who wouldn't leave me a lone and came by literally every minute or so to ask me how everything was and more recently, because he isn't there anymore perhaps, it's hard to get someone to come to your table at all. I had a particularly bad experience last night. I ordered my usual and made sure to tell the server that I was allergic to dairy and let him know to please use vegetable oil in my food, not ghee, paneer, milk, etc. He actually argued with me a little bit until I said, ""please, just no diary, it will make me very, very sick. My girlfriend and I got our appetizers, which were ok, I think they changed the recipe and then our food came. I began eating my meal only to realize that they had put butter on the naan. I asked him to just take it off the check. He did so but not without getting very angry and storming off. To top it off, about 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant, the stomach pains began! Apparently they had used ghee in my food afterall. The atmosphere is typical, the food is just ok and the service is horrific. If you want to go to a great indian place, it's further, but worth it...Star of India on Craig Street in Oakland. It tops India Garden, hands down!
