Review content:
My son's car was towed by Image Towing on October 28, 2011 for being in arrears on his car payments. Ray was the tow truck driver who as there to pick up the vehicle. The car was turned over to him willingly. When I asked Ray what the charges would be to get the car back his answer was a flat 375 dollars, no storage fees no matter how long it sat there. I must admit that the information given sounded incorrect so I asked him twice more about the fees and he gave me the same answer. My son's car had been repossessed one time before and I asked him if his company was the one to tow it and was he the driver? He said ""NO""! My son also received threatening voice mails and phone calls at 11:30 pm from their (314)298-3999 number which is listed on the BBB site. I ran a number reversal and found the number belonged to a private residence, I assume this number belongs to the owner. This is not the way to conduct business but being the type business they conduct I guess they feel that they can get away with those kind of tactics. Anyway I was on my way to the credit union to pay off the car so I knew the next step would be to call the tow company. Their calls are answered by a less than polite woman and when I learned about the charges that had been incurred since the date of the original tow I admit to getting argumentative myself as was she. She finally transferred me to the owner and I told him that since his driver gave me a quote that he needed to give me a break. He said ""Well that's not gonna happen"". He continued to say that his drivers don't know what fees they charge and that all his drivers are notorious liars. What an admission to be proud of. He also informed me that their company was the one who towed the car last time and that I had been through this before and I should know the rules. When I asked for the total amount due which was 620 dollars I must admit that I went ballistic. They have these little fees that they tack on which doesn't seem to pertain to the towing and storage of the vehicle. The last time I went through this they would not tell me how the fees broke down. Again another great way to do business. I am not asking anyone to take sympathy with my situation but these people take advantage of people who are already with the shame and embarrassment of being in this situation, and for the most part totally stressed out, I am just saying that they should be fair. They should instruct their drivers TO NEVER GIVE OUT QUOTES. The drivers should be instructed to tell the vehicle owner that they need to contact the office. I have scraped and scrimped and borrowed all I can to pay the 375 dollars now I am having to try to come up with more. I would hate to be in a business like theirs that takes advantage of people in a bad situation. Perhaps one day they will be out of a job and they will be dealing with people like themselves and I hope that they get the meanest, nastiest, outrageously priced tow companies in these United States.
