Review content:
Dogs for the Deaf is a really amazing organization. They find “shelter dogs” and train them to hear for people who are deaf. The dogs learn to alert their owners when the phone rings, or the doorbell rings, or an alarm goes off. Through an extensive screening process, the dogs are placed with people all over the country, at essentially no cost to the new owners. People from the organization also come out with the dogs to help the dog and owner to bond and learn to work together. The dogs that do not successfully make it through the rigorous training program are adopted out, too. I’m really amazed by this program, and all of the good work that it does. Dogs for the Deaf offers tours of their facilities, too. A truly great program!
