Review content:
I ordered a cupcake display and cake (Cars theme) for my son's 1st birthday. When I picked up the order my sons name was spelled wrong even tho it was written on the order form so they had to fix that. Also, the writing on the cake was not on top of the cake as I was told it would be. Instead, it was on the tray. They gave me $10 off the cake. When I was leaving I asked for a bigger box for the cake and they stated that they didn't have one so I left with the cake being uncovered. I had to cover it myself with aluminum foil when I got home. At the party, which was the next day (I ordered the cake for Monday and the girl didn't tell me they where closed on Monday, which lead to me picking it up on Sunday) the cake and cupcakes were dry tasting either too sweet or like baking powder. I was mortified. Kids didn't even finish their cakes or cupcakes and adults came up to me and told me the cakes and cupcakes were beautiful (they were) but they tasted horrible. Needless to say, I called the bakery the next day. The manager (George) was shocked, did not apologize and instead said ""we sell thousands of cakes and never had a complaint"" and asked me if I had any cupcakes or cake to bring him to try. I told him absolutely (you know it's not a good sign when you have 40+ people and enough cake/cupcakes for 45 and half of it is left and the other half is barely consumed by the guests). So, I dropped the rest of the cupcakes and cake off and asked to speak to George but was told he ""left for lunch"" so I spoke to the lady who had helped me with the misspelled cupcakes on Sunday. She was surprised and upset. She apologized and told me that she would have George call me when he returned. Its been one day and one phone call (I called this morning and the person I spoke to said he couldn't ""be disturbed"" but she would have him call me. Yeah, right) and I haven't heard back from him yet. That shows how professional George is. To clarify, I did not call in hopes of a refund or whatever--I paid for the cake and that is fine. I just want people to know what I went through. I went there once but will never go back. Yes, the bakery is nice and the staff is friendly, but if all their cakes/cupcakes are like the ones I received, then you are better off going to Walmart--you pay less and know what you're getting. And George, if you ever read this review, please take a course in customer service: a polite phone call would have gone a long way. After all, your lack of professionalism and behavior is a reflection of your bakery. Thumbs down.....
