Review content:
Ocean avenue is ridiculous at best with the giant drinks and sometimes delicious encounters. However there are little surprises and BLT steak is one of them. I have been finagling my way down Ocean Ave. while working in Miami. Eating for one is normally downing a drink, an appetizer and a salad or small entree just to fill myself before heading back to my hotel and trying to fall asleep to the techno music outside my window. However tonight at BLT Steak I truly enjoyed my meal. I was elated when a jar of chicken liver pate and pickled vegetables arrived at my table. The pate was delicious and an nice change from the regular bread with dipping oil. I hate to admit it but I ate it all and almost licked the jar. I started with the Himachee and was excited to see more than three pieces of nice fish for the $17. The vinaigrette truly complimented the fish and the garnish of radishes, hearts of palm, micro greens and cucumber were excitedly offset by the avocado and Jalapeno. However, the popover brought out to my table, which at first I thought was a giant ham hock, was one of the highlights of the night. I promptly broke it open, smothered the inside with butter and relished each and every bite. The chopped vegetable salad was very nice. It was overflowing with fresh veggies and the super crispy greens were well dressed with a very tasty dressing. I tried to eat it all but the $15 the salad costs was one of the more economical dishes I have been offered in South Beach. I thought about desert but decided to decline and was overly excited when a fresh basket of lemon vanilla Madeline's arrived at my table. I felt a tiny bit bad as I ate every last piping hot one. It was a nice ending to a delightful meal. I will be going back and trying more on the menu. Be prepared to spend some money but if you are in South Beach you will not be too surprised! Enjoy.
