I never wanted to lose my parents. They were my best friends and rock solid with wisdom. They made me feel safe. In 1997, Jesus took my father home. I remember the hospital was so quiet, I literally heard my heart beating. As the tears flowed, we prayed and prayed. When it came time to call the Funeral Home, it was a no brainer that we all said ""Raccuglia"" at the same time. We never used them before, but had been to funerals held in their funeral home. I knew Vinny since I was a little girl as my friend from school lived near him on Sackett St. After a while, it was only natural for me to call him ""Uncle Vinny"" and I still do to this day. Phillip came to my aid when my father died. He met me, mom, and my sister to make the arrangements. My brother did not know daddy died, and Phillip was sweet enough to stay with us to make sure everyone and everything was done right. On the morning that we were to have Daddy's Mass, I went to the funeral home at 6am. Uncle Vinny saw me get out of a cab, and asked if anything was wrong. I said ""no, I just want to spend time alone with Dad, is this ok?"" Uncle Vinny, in his own special caring way said...""of course its okay, but if you ever come here again by cab I will be upset. I will send a limo for you!"". Such a caring man! At the end, when it was time to close the coffin I could not walk away. My heart was shattered and I wanted to stay with my father. Phillip knew how hurt I was. He came over and very calmly explained to me how Daddy was with Jesus, and it was time for them to meet in Church. Phillip very slowly led me outside to the cars, and I went to St. Stephens feeling better. Thank you Uncle Vinny and Phillip. You are two true gentlemen in a world where not many are easy to find.
