I recently got my bike back from Bobs motorsports in elgin. The bike was running fine when dropped off and last season went to Connecticut, came home and then down to Kentucky. I was riding it this year before I dropped it off for top end work; rings and gaskets. I dropped the bike off on Holy Thursday before Easter and did not get the bike back till June 4. The top end work was done in a week and a half and then I was called in because would not run correctly. I explained that the bike ran fine before being dropped off, but I accepted their explanation and told them that I could only spend another 500 dollars on the bike. They agreed and stated that they would try to stay within the 500 dollar limit. First it was carb work. After that was head work, which I doubted the bike would need. Then it was an ignition which I asked them to check the timing early which would have had made the head work a no go. After all this the bike was still not running correctly, even though it was dropped off in running condition but it was leaking oil out of some gaskets. I called the shop everyday reminding them that I could not exceed an extra of 500 dollars and was told that the bill would be right around there and that the shop owner didnt care about the money. I thought this meant that they would be eating the labor for throwing parts at it and going nowhere? After 5 weeks, and still no bike, I found the time to go online and google the issue. I was directed to a forum which stated that it was due to a bad ground connection or loose ground on battery. I fowarded the link to the shops email adress. Guess what? The bike Started running after that, but now they were saying that the bike needed more carb work after they went through the carb numerous times. Finally got the call to pick up the bike, after 6 weeks, and the total for the extra work was nowhere around the 500 that I asked for, but was instead 1400 dollars. so my total with the engine work I asked for and the ""extra"" was 2,400. I picked up the bike and was told that they put a used carb from a sporty on my ultra classic. I asked them if I still had cruise control. I was told that I never had cruise control on that bike. (i had cruise control on that bike) I think I've stated enough. I'm so pissed off I dont even want to ride the bike.
