The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception? or ""The Cathedral"" as it's known in Denver is one of Elevate Photography's favorite locations for wedding ceremonies in Denver. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1921 and has since graced the skyline of Denver's historic Capitol Hill district with it's twin 200 ft spires.
The Cathedral 's central location near the Denver capitol offers endless opportunities for reception locations downtown as well as easy access to great spots for photos with the wedding party. The bridal suite is in a small room in the basement and therefore has no available daylight. If possible, it is reccomended that the majority of getting ready photos be done at the salon/hotel.
Photographer's will enjoy some of most intricate and beautiful architecture to photograph. During the day, The Cathedral is flooded with natural light from all sides. Flash is not an option during the ceremony so shooting from a tripod is a must. The balcony is the best vantage point for photographers to capture the grand scope of the space.
Having two photographers is strongly recommended at The Cathedral. One can focus on close up expressions during the ceremony and the other can capture the overall scene. A great moment captured with the bride and father is before the processional in the foyer at the back of the church. Having a second shooter is essential in getting this shot.
Elevate Photography loves photographing weddings at The Cathedral. If you are looking to have you wedding there, contact us today so we can use our experience at The Cathedral to document your special day! 303.744.6700
