I was a member at this gym from October '07 - May '08 and was quite satisfied with their equipment and hours. However, in May when I was in the middle of moving to Florida I ""canceled"" my membership with them. By ""canceling"" I mean speaking with the girl at the front desk and having her assure me that I was clear and everything was good to go. Well a month later I see there is a monthly deduction taken from my bank account. Think it was just that ""last and final charge"" I ignored it. In July it appeared again. I called Fitness 1 and spoke to the manager and he said he would look into the situation and would call me back. He never called me back. I called a few days later and there was no manager on duty so I got the address and sent a letter explaining my situation along with bank statements proving I was still being charged. The letter got returned to me for an incorrect address. I called AGAIN. This time the same manager told me that he had never spoken to me before and was unaware of my situation. He also told me that none of his employees would have ever not canceled my membership when I asked them to, which was a lie. He argued with me and then got my phone number and said he'd call me back. Which is exactly what happened last time. I won't hold my breath. They are STILL stealing money from me.
Pros: Open 24 hours during the week
Cons: Will not cancel my membership... continue to deduct fees!
