Review content:
Today we hit a road hazard on the way to our daughters house over in Modesto. The tire blew out but we were able to get to a safe place and change to our spare. We were close to Ripon and decided to go to Swier Tires to purchase a replacement. We had dealt with Swier for other tire needs in the past. In fact the tire that was ruined today was purchased from Swier a couple of months ago. The place wasn't busy and the fellow who approached us said no problem, then promptly walked to the vehicle and said the left front tire was also ready to blow and we probably wouldn't make it to Modesto. We said we would consider a second tire and left the spare to be replaced. We returned from Modesto to pick up the replacement tire in the afternoon and had decided to swap the spare with the front tire and not buy a second one at this time. We were instead going to get a quote to replace all of the tires. When we told him that we were only going to purchase one tire today the fellow was incredibly rude to my husband. He said if we didn't purchase the second tire we would need to pay cash and could not get a receipt, as it was a liability risk to his four kids and the company. He said that we thought our safety was a joke. He then went on to say we needed a third tire on the front passenger side! At that point we weren't going to be coerced into buying anything from him. He de-mounted the replacement tire and we left with our rim and old tire. We take good care of our vehicles. I find it funny that just two months prior they had no problem fixing my flat (once again a road hazard) and they didn't tell me that I needed two new front tires. Today, in the span of 3 hours we went from needing just one front tire to needing both. And does he really believe that there is less liability risk to his four kids and company by selling a tire for cash and without a receipt? It's my perception that business must of have been slow today. Believe me we won't succumb to anyone's hard sell. Our future tire purchases will not be from Swier Tires. We are getting a quote from Les Schwab in the morning. We have heard good things about them.
