I purchased a Nikon Coolpix L100; serial from Novelty Camera at 323 West 42nd St NY, NY. He had the camera listed for $598 and told me it was ""the latest model."" Because I traded in an N70 and tele and wide angle lenses he sold it to me for $300. When I got back to NC I looked up the cameral on line and standard retail price is $286. So I was charged $300 plus my Nikon N70 and wide and tele lenses. Nikon service rep said Novelty Camera City is not an authorized Nikon dealer and the Coolpix L100 is not ""the lateste model"". So my original equipment was taken under falsehood. Plus the ""new"" camera has a malfunction that leeches the battery power. So I suspect it was a refurbished camera that was sold as new.
